While Nigerians react to the allegations of the ruling party’s involvement in another plagiarism scandal, All Progressive Congress on Tuesday clarifies this allegation by positing that their logo is different from the school’s project logo being accused of. There are similarities between the ‘Next Level’ logo and that of the ‘Next Level’ project of the Winthrop University’s Rex Institute for Educational Renewal an Partnerships, in South Carolina, United States. Though the APC’s campaign logo incorporates green and red in it, the Rex Institute’s is black and burgundy. This logo theft has ruled the news for days now.
In the view of this, the Campaign Organisation spokesman, Festus Keyamo on AIT said that the official logo was different from the one being released and accused the supporters of the opposition party, People’s Democratic Party as the ones championing the fake logo seen all over social media.
According to The Guardian Nigerian, Festus Keyamo claims that the logo theft scandal is a fraud. He says, ‘They went to steal a logo crafted it as if it is our won and put it up on the social media. fraud!’
This inappropriate use of intellectual property has been fired on the ruling party in September 2016 where a part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s speech was copied from the former president of America, Barack Obama. While clearing the air, budding questions are still left unanswered by the APC campaign team.
However, reporters have said that there may be consequences for this ‘inappropriate’ act by the ruling party.
