Senator Dino Melaye is still making waves on the news. Melaye representing Kogi west senatorial district, has been moved from the Department of State Security (DSS) Hospital to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Headquarters at Guzape in Abuja.
As reported here, masked officers moved Melaye to the DSS hospital on Friday, January 11th for further medical examination but the senator allegedly refused to be admitted into the DSS facility and spent two nights outside the hospital.
The Nation reports that the Police yesterday decided to relocate him to the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) Headquarters after the senator refused to be admitted into the DSS facility.
Police spokesman, Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood, who spoke on the relocation said:
“The police medical team at our facility examined him and concluded that he was okay to stand trial, but he insisted that he was not okay.
“He was later taken from DSS Hospital on Friday but he refused to enter. He preferred to sleep outside. His insistence to sleep outside showed that he is healthy.
“So, he has been taken to detention at IRT Office and we have 14 days warrant. He will be taken to court within the 14 days period.”
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has earlier claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has resolved to intimidate those it sees as enemies in the National Assembly.
Saraki also alleged that the ordeal of Senator Dino Melaye was one of the attempts to silence both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other lawmakers in the National Assembly.
