Presidential candidate in the 2019 General Elections; Omoyele Sowore, has been recently freed from prison. He, alongside Olawale Bakare, was detained by the Directorate for State Service (DSS) on 3 August 2019 – totaling 124 days spent in jail. This was due to revolutionary protests reported to have been instigated by the Founder of Sahara Reporters – Omoyele Sowore.
Omoyele Sowore and Olawale Bakare were released in the early hours of 7 pm, yesterday – 5 December 2019, and we see photos and videos of their ardent supporters express delight.

Sequel to his freedom, the court has ordered that the DSS pay a 100,000 NGN fine in defiance to initial court orders requesting to release Omoyele Sowore.
