#21Savage was arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Atlanta and has been taken into custody, set for possible deportation from the US.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement just confirmed the arrest of rapper 21 Savage claiming that he is actually from the United Kingdom and has overstayed his visa.
According to reports, 21 Savage, whose real name is Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, entered the US legally in 2005 but his visa expired in 2005 and has since been in America illegally. He arrived America at the age of 12.
He is currently being held for staying in the country illegally as well as being a felon – he was convicted for drug charges in 2014.
His attorney, Dina LaPolt, tells TMZ, “We are working diligently to get Mr. Abraham-Joseph out of detention while we work with authorities to clear up any misunderstanding. Mr. Abraham-Joseph is a role model to the young people in the country — especially in Atlanta, Georgia and is actively working in the community leading programs to help underprivileged youths in financial literacy.” He is currently in custody in Georgia
He was also convicted of felony drug charges in 2014 in Fulton County. Abraham-Joseph has been placed in “removal proceedings before the federal immigration courts,” Cox said. He performed in Atlanta as recently as Thursday in the Super Bowl Music Fest at State Farm Arena.
The rapper is presently in ICE custody in Georgia and has been placed into removal proceedings before the federal immigration courts. ICE will now await the outcome of his case before a federal immigration judge to determine future actions.”
