It looks like the Premier League super stars, Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho may have finally settled for shirt numbers with the Super Eagles of Nigeria. This comes after both players were forced to switch to other numbers in previous games.
While Arsenal 20-year-old forward Alex Iwobi appears to have finally settled for jersey number 18, Manchester City’s forward Iheanacho looks to have settled for jersey number 14, citing Ownnigeria reports.
Iwobi new shirt number with the Nigeria senior national team comes after he twice switched numbers.Iwobi in the number 18 jersey against Egypt, the shirt number he usually wore for Arsenal number 17 belongs to Eddy Onazi in the Super Eagles team, forcing him to a change of number, which has seen him alternate between jersey 19, 20 and 18. Iwobi first wore jersey number 19 in his first two games for Nigeria, which were the friendly games against Congo DR and Cameroon.
But he made his debut for Nigeria in a different jersey against Egypt in the two legged AFCON 2017 qualifiers where he made his competitive debut for Nigeria over both legs in jersey number 18. And just when many thought he had settled for the shirt number he played in jersey number 20 during the Super Eagles last friendly ties against Mali and Luxembourg.
Iheanacho who has been training with jersey 14, had also switched between jersey number 8 and 18 in the past. The jersey number 18 was the same number he wore during the last qualifying tie against Tanzania.
