According to The Punch, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Imo State and Director General, APC Progressives Members, Chris Esiobu, has threatened to drag Governor Rochas Okorocha before the Code of Conduct Bureau for allegedly inflicting financial hardship on the populace.
In a statement issued in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Monday, Esiobu accused Okorocha of starving the people of the state through harsh policies.
“The people of Imo are dying of hunger and starvation, yet nothing has been done in a way of creating job opportunities and revenues for the youths of Imo State to earn a living,” the statement read in part.
APC Progressives Members is a group within the Imo State APC.
Esiobu said the group was ready to publish the various contracts handled by the state government in three national newspapers.
He alleged that some of the contracts being handled by the state government had been abandoned.
Responding, the governor’s principal officer on electronic media, Anyachukwu Idiong, described the allegation as baseless.
Idiong said although the people of Imo had the right to ask questions about how the state was being run, the claim by Esiobu was an insult on the various projects embarked upon by the state government.
He listed the projects to include free education and road construction, among several others.
