A commissioner in Bauchi, Alhaji Shehu Barau Ningi resigned his appointment from the state executive council just few days after Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar had presented the 2017 budget to the House of Assembly.
Addressing journalist over his decision to resign his appointment on Thursday, Ningi who is the commissioner for Budget and Planning alleged that he was not given an enabling environment to function effectively as commissioner. He further alleged that there is also an unjustified deliberate marginalisation of himself and his supporters who had contributed to the governor’s victory at the polls that brought him to power. He also stated that Ningi Emirate which he represents in the cabinet is marginalised through lack of developmental projects as it was also sidelined in the recent awards of contracts for road projects across the state. He accused the Governor of aggravating the intra party crises that is presently rocking the party.
He said that the APC led government in the state might lose in the next general elections. When contacted over the commissioner’s resignation, the Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Al-Sadique said that it is the right of Shehu Barau Ningi to resign his appointment.
