Following allegations and counter allegations between himself and his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, Rivers state governor, yesterday denied that he a member of any secret cult. Speaking at the commissioning of the state government house chapel, Wike Nyesom said while he was an undergraduate at the Rivers state University of Science and Technology, he never joined any secret cult.

“As a University student, I never entered into any cult. Never!” he said.
Two days ago, Wike Nyesom accused Amaechi of forming a new cult group whose aim is to cause security crisis in the state. Amaechi has since denied the allegation.
