Fans still cannot contain their excitement, and football aficionados all over the world cannot hide their shock at Wigan’s win over Manchester City, which many have described as one of the greatest FA Cup shocks of all time.
While their attack game was not as strong as that of Man City, they defended their territory wonderfully and took their chance the moment it came, and that singular goal changed the course of the game, giving them a great finish.
Ecstatic fans of the winning team put up a rather brutish display, preventing the players to leave the pitch safely. Sergio Agüero also got involved in a scuffle with elated fans, and this brought about a few exchange of blows causing chaos and security concerns in the arena.
It later became a clash between both clubs as the clearly upset Man City fans started throwing objects over the fence of the perimeter, destroying properties and throwing them at the police.
The managers of both clubs, Pep Guardiola and Paul Cook also got involved in a broil over a red card issued to one of Man City’s player, Fabian Delph.
It is apparent that emotions ran high after the match but more importantly, Wigan can now look forward to a home quarter-final against Southampton, something they could only hope for before now. Shall we drink to that?
