It is no surprise, the sense of hush and reverence when the Queen Elizabeth II of England made a surprise entrance at the London Fashion Week.
Her Majesty was a surprise guest on Tuesday afternoon at Richard Quinn’s show, the last of the London Fashion Week and his second ever. There was a hush as she entered the room, with the audience standing up to greet the monarch and, of course, raising their phones to get shots of the quintessence of royalty herself.
The Queen sat front row, with a special cushion placed on her seat – beside Anna Wintour, Vogue’s editor-in-chief, who in turn sat next to the monarch’s dressmaker, Angela Kelly.
She also toured showrooms before presenting the award, which will now be presented annually to new talent in the industry, on the final day of fashion week.
The royal family has often hosted Fashion Week receptions for top designers and journalists, but the new award — and the queen’s personal visit — have added a new dimension to its support for the industry.
