President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected the amendment to the Electoral Act proposed by National Assembly.
The National Assembly had proposed that presidential election comes last in amendment to the Electoral Act 2010.
But the president gave three reasons for withholding assent to the bill, which was passed by both chambers of the National Assembly.
This Tuesday, Senate President Bukola Saraki read the communication by President Buhari clearly stating the reason for withholding assent to the bill.
Following the passage of the bill by the National Assembly, several civil society organizations (CSOs), senior lawyers and other notable Nigerians have kicked against it, called on the president not to put his assent to it.
