For the first time ever (for any issue) in its 126-year history, Vogue magazine will have a black photographer shoot their cover.
Reportedly, twenty-three-year-old Tyler Mitchell (@tylersphotos) will shoot the always highly anticipated September issue, which will feature Beyonce, who personally selected Tyler to photograph her.
Beyonce has been giving total control over her cover by editor in chief, Anna Wintour.
Huffington Post reports that Vogue is under a contract with Beyoncé to have total control of her cover, the magazine captions which she herself wrote.
Tyler has also photographed Parkland shooting survivors for Teen Vogue’s March for our lives feature.
We hope this opens the floodgates for many more prestigious opportunities for diverse creative points of view and talents
