Meghan Markle’s half-sister, Samantha Markle who has trolled Meg since the Duchess’ engagement to Prince Harry through her cyber attacks and incessant media interviews to media houses who are willing to listen, seems to have softened up at the news of Meghan’s pregnancy.
Following the announcement that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first child, Sam says she’s ready to bury the hatchet.
“Everybody just needs to shut the heck up and let this be a great thing for them, for the world, for the family and that’s where I’m at,” says Markle, 53, in a video for Daily Mail TV.
“It’s so important that everybody put their egos aside. Meghan’s done some things with my dad, but in my heart, I love her and I want her and the baby to do well,” she adds. “I was kind of overwhelmed with emotion [when I heard] and I just thought, I’m letting everything go. It’s beautiful and I’m so excited for Harry too.”
According to Markle, the impending arrival of a new life puts everything in perspective.
“’I think everybody really just needs to come together and realize this is really important and special for Meg, for Harry, for the child, for all of us, and we need to stop the sparring,” she continues. “I want things to be alright in my family and everybody has to be on the same page. I want that for the child but I want that for Meg too.”
In fact, when Markle learned the happy news she immediately decided it was time to stop feuding with her famous sibling.
“A baby is incredible. You can’t say anything negative. You can’t feel anything negative. It’s just a beautiful, amazing thing. So my reaction was, ‘screw all this stuff and everything that’s been said,’” she adds.
As she explains, she’s hopeful that the baby will help mend the relationship between Meghan and their father, Thomas Markle. “He is excited and I’m not going to let the media take any of that away from him or from Meg — they’ll work it out in their own space and time,” she says. “Hopefully time will pass and this will all resolve itself and be a wonderful thing for everybody.”
