The International School Ibadan (ISI) witnessed a hijab protest after a student was locked out for wearing a hijab to school. According to Sahara Reporters, ‘the atmosphere has been tense for weeks now following the non-refusal of Muslim parents to budge, despite the resolution of the Governing Board of the school on the wearing of hijabs on school uniforms.’
Following the occurrence, parents and students suspected to be from the University of Ibadan and affirmed to be affiliated to the Islamic religion beseiged the school’s main gate in protest. The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) was seen walking into the school premises earlier, and protesters left the entrance of the school and moved towards Akinyele Road.
However, armed policemen were around the school premises to ensure peace and order.
