Ahead of the polls in Ondo and Rivers, the conveners of the Movement for the Actualisation of Egalitarian Society (MAES) and the Get Involved Campaign has called on the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain resolute, focus and determined to umpire Ondo State governorship elections as well as the National Assembly elections in Rivers State.
Speaking to newsmen during the weekend the convener, GETINVOLVED CAMPAIGN, comrade Idris Usman raised concerns, over what he described as “faulty conduct of some elections in recent times by INEC, under the leadership of Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.”
Comrade Usman also urged Prof Yakubu to bolster up to the electoral standard left behind by his predecessor, Prof. Attahiru Jega that was generally accepted as free and fair globally.
He also called on the INEC, to brace up itself for the challenges of the forthcoming election in Ondo and Rivers State, as it will be a major yardstick to determine the capability to give Nigerians a credible General election in 2019.
He condemned the alleged complicity between INEC and some key members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He, however, called on politicians to abide by the rules of the game by ensuring that no individual ambition, is elevated above the collective interest of the country.
