On Sunday, 26 January 2020, we witnessed quite an experience that rendered the world in shock. The death of basketball legend; Kobe, was plunged us in a state of utter forlorn.
It was reported that Bryant embarked on a journey to California, USA when a fire broke out from his private helicopter. He was travelling alongside 9 others, including his teenage 13-year old daughter; Gianna. According to the LA County Sheriff, there are no survivors.
Kobe’s death is a tragic loss for the world of sports. We are all affected by it and, well, what can we say? At the Grammy Awards yesterday, there were a number of tributes accredited to the NBA legend. In a monologue rendered by Alicia Keys; the hostess at the 62nd Grammy Awards, she had this to say:
We’re all feeling crazy sadness right now. Because earlier today Los Angeles, America and the whole wide world lost a hero.
We’re literally standing here heartbroken in the house that Kobe Bryant built.
After scoring for PSG against Lille yesterday, Neymar Jr celebrated his goal by flashing Bryant’s ’24’ number as a sign of his tribute. The likes of Kanye West, President Obama, President Trump, as well as local celebrities, have expressed their devastation at the really sad incident.
Kobe Bryant was aged 41 when he passed on. He will be remembered as one of the greatest basketball legends of all time. May his soul Rest In Peace.
