Former Abia State Governor and current Senator; Orji Uzor Kalu, has been sentenced to a 12-year jail term. The news broke earlier today during the conviction at the Federal High Court, Lagos.
He was prosecuted for fraud involving NGN 7.65B between 1999 and 2007 when he was governor of Abia state. Reports hold that the ex-governor has been prosecuted between 27 and 39 counts by the EFCC.
The court has ordered forfeiture of all assets of his company to the Federal Government.
